Sailing from Port Everglades
Port Everglades is the grown-up sibling of the Florida ports: heavy on premium lines, 7 to 10 night routes and Panama Canal departures. Princess, Celebrity and Holland America run their Caribbean programs from here, Royal Caribbean fills the mainstream lanes, and Disney added Fort Lauderdale as its second Florida homeport.
The port's trump card is logistics. FLL airport is less than four miles from the gangways, and the 17th Street hotel row is closer still. If minimizing travel friction matters, no US port beats this one.
Season: Year round, with the premium lines concentrated October through April.

Parking at the port
Port garages charge about $22 per day and sit beside the terminals. Park and go lots on Eller Drive and US-1 start near $12 per day with shuttles. Given how close FLL is, fly-in cruisers should compare a week of parking against simply taking a $15 rideshare from home airport parking on their own end.
Where to stay the night before
The 17th Street corridor is cruise hotel row: Embassy Suites, Renaissance and Hilton Marina sit within 5 minutes of the port and most run cruise parking packages. Fort Lauderdale beach hotels add an ocean evening for a modest premium. Same-day flights into FLL are feasible here more than any other port, but we still recommend arriving the night before December through March.

Cruises from Fort Lauderdale: your questions
How early can I fly in on embarkation day?
FLL is 10 minutes from the port, so an on-time morning flight technically works. We still advise the night before from December through March, when weather delays and 6-ship port days collide.
What is the difference between Port Everglades and PortMiami?
They are 30 miles apart. Port Everglades skews premium (Princess, Celebrity, Holland America) and long routes, PortMiami skews mainstream mega-ships and short Bahamas trips. Price the same week at both before you book.
When are Fort Lauderdale cruises cheapest?
September through early November for the Caribbean, and late April for Panama Canal repositioning sailings. Prices checked: July 2026.
